I had a "Philippe's" French Dip back in the early seventies... I remember the place as being in the older, business/industrial section of LA , but as we approached I noticed the big shiny cars including a creme colored "Rolls"...As we walked in, the first thing I noticed was the enormous crowd inside, patiently waiting in line with anticipation, everyone else was simply enjoying a "Masterpiece", that became a legend...After that initial shock , I turned to my right at the entrance and noticed a familiar scale , upon taking a closer look ,it explained that, that scale is the one used by "Norman Rockwel" , in one of his famous paintings...If You're ever in the vicinity of "Philippe" or make a trip with the intend to visit an historic place and enjoy a sanwich that has been enjoyed by millions for a hundred years... Then by all means ....... Enjoy !!
